Digvijay Singh Gujral, the State Co-Convenor of Sports Cell, has made India and Madhya
Pradesh proud by winning the bronze medal in squash at the World Transplant Games 2023
in Perth, Australia. He defeated Iran’s Rezai Hussain in an exciting five-set match to bring
home the medal. The competition saw participation from more than 1500 players from
around the world.
Gujral, 37 years old, was determined to win the gold in squash. He was born with a condition
called “Hydronephrosis,” which causes a blockage in one kidney. Later, he was diagnosed
with CKD (chronic kidney disease) on March 4, 2011, and underwent a kidney transplant.
Despite these challenges, Gujral never gave up on his passion for sports.
In 2019, Gujral participated in the World Transplant Games in the UK, where he won a silver
medal in squash. Now, he has set his sights on another medal, and his hard work and
dedication have paid off.
The WeTogether team offers our heartiest congratulations on his well-deserved success and
wishes him all the best in his future endeavors. Gujral’s determination and resilience serve
as an inspiration to us all.
